Understand the UNLcms Interface

On your UNL.edu site, you will have the Administration toolbar (black) and the Shortcuts menu (grey) across the top of your pages as well as the View/Edit tabs just under the Main Menu/Navigation links to change views when editing your pages.

The Administration Toolbar

AKA: Admin Tools. Not all options will be available for all user types.

Home button Home

Go to your site's home page.

Dashboard

Basic navigation, recent content added or edited, new users and users   online.

Content

List of all pages. From here,   you can edit or delete pages.

Structure

Manage the order of items in the Main Menu of   Navigation Links.

Appearance

Site specific CSS or JavaScript (needed when adding Google Analytics), Toggle display of site slogan, user pictures in posts and/or comments, Manage breadcrumbs and the site name abbreviation.

People

Add, edit, or delete users of the administration tools and set their role in the site.

Modules

Turn on/off and configure specific modules available in the site.

Configuration

Manage specific site configurations.

Reports

Reports on various items, including the top ‘access denied’ and ‘page not found’ (404s) errors, and the most popular search phrases.

Help

Various help topics for using the UNLcms.

Open a form to submit feedback about the UNLcms system to the UNLcms Development team.

 Log out

Log out of the UNLcms system.

Collapse or expand the grey Shortcuts menu below the Administration toolbar.

Shortcuts available will vary depending on the administration tool you are currently using. They are typically the most common tasks/tools used in the selected administration tool in use.

Depending on your role in the site, not all options may be available.

View

View the page as any visitor to your site will see it.

Edit

Open the page to edit the title or page content.

Outline

If a book page, you can reorder the pages/section from here.

Revisions

View the date/time and user who made page edits in chronological order. You can also revert to a previous revision if needed.
