The UNL Digital Experience Group, in cooperation with the UNL Web Developer Network (WDN), provides a variety of specialized applications to make it easier to create and maintain web content. These public information applications include:
UNL Web Framework
The UNL Web Framework is where everything comes together. This innovative platform for websites follows a strict separation of concerns model, allowing multiple brands to be represented on top of the same fast, accessible, standards-based markup. Higher ed firsts include the first full implementations of responsive design and dark mode in a large-university web framework.
UNL CMS
UNL CMS is an enterprise content management system based on Drupal and provided for the use of UNL communicators; more than 90 percent of UNL's public web pages are published on UNL CMS. Customized UNL CMS variants power Nebraska Today, the multicampus services catalog and other unique publishing projects.
Events
The UNL Events system is a 'Network of Calendars,' providing public calendars of events — including images and APIs — for all organizations within the university.
Mediahub
UNL Mediahub provides a robust platform for video and audio, with an easy to use captioning option, plus an innovative player with text search of the video content.
Announce
UNL Announce provides UNL units with a branded platform for email newsletters, with drag-and-drop formatting and a permanent web archive of all editions.
Directory
UNL Directory is the place to go to look up individuals and entities at the university. Individuals' directory data is pulled from authoritative systems; organizational units also maintain and publish information about their units.
Lockup Factory
The UNL Lockup Factory provides university entities with brand-compliant, vector-based logo lockups.
Email Signature Generator
UNL's Email Signature Generator provides the UNL community with a good-looking and well-branded way to represent your university and your place in it. Multiple logos and campaigns are available.
Maps
UNL Maps provide 2D maps, wayfinding, pathing, bus routes and ETAs, parking and many other location services to members of the UNL community and our visitors.
Go URL
Go URL provides users with a branded URL shortening service, custom appendices, branded QR codes, and Google Analytics Campaign Tagging in one easy-to-use service.
Web Audit
UNL's Web Audit system constantly tests all UNL sites against a suite of quality metrics maintained by the WDN Shared Governance Board. Sites are provided a grade, and owners are notified via email every time a changed site is encountered.
Search
UNL's website provides end users with the ability to search the site they're on or toggle to all of UNL. Simultaneously with the entry of any general search query, a search of the UNL Directory is also initiated.
UNL Chat
UNL's Constituent Chat system provides a consistent and robust live chat solution on every page of the website. If no operator is present, it smartly falls back to an email option. Chatbot integration using Amazon Lex is optional.
Reservations System
This project forms the basis of several systems that allow users to describe a resource and its availability, and provide an ability to reserve/schedule that resource.
Alert
UNL's Alert system is a set of interrelated systems that provide instant alerting in the event of emergencies. All websites based on the UNL Web Framework are UNL Alert endpoints, constantly monitoring for alert messages.
