URLs in Title II Compliance

For compliance with Title II, we’re supposed to use contextual links for embedding URLs and omit the URLs as text (e.g., Department of Psychology not Department of Psychology: https://psychology.unl.edu). Does the same apply to email addresses, or can we leave them as text? That is, can we keep jstevens5@unl.edu on websites, or do we have to use Jeff Stevens?

For Title II requirements we have to follow WCAG 2 AA standards. While there is no rule in that level about having no naked URLs in the text, it isn’t a great user experience for screen readers.

As long as you describe the link, it should be valid. There are some cases where you would want those URLs in the text, like when you are printing a page out. Can’t click a link on a piece of paper.

But for emails it might be better to actually list out the email address. If you just have the link be “Jeff Stevens” the user might be confused on where that link would go. Does it go to a bio page, or is it a link that opens your email and starts an email with Jeff? The context for that page will determine how things are formatted.

Faculty/Staff Permissions to Edit Own Profile

Are faculty the only ones who can edit their profiles in Drupal? Or are staff also supposed to be able to edit their own profile content?

Both Faculty and Staff should be able to edit Person pages where the UNL Directory Reference field is matched to them.

Errors When Downloading All Entries of a Webform

I keep getting an error code when trying to download/ export all of the entires for this Webform. I’m assuming it’s because it’s beefy/has a bunch of entries, but just want to make sure.

Make sure the download format is “.zip” and not “.tar” and try it again. That was just fixed but the fix is only for “.zip.” [Eric will] look into forcing that to be the selection on that field.

Mass Delete Webform Submissions

Is there a faster/easier way to mass-delete files? Wanting to clear out some of the documents that got uploaded last year for scholarship applications and there’s a bunch of them.

Those would be Webform submissions, correct? I think the best way would be to delete the form or use the “Clear” tab under Results. Alternately, you could unpublished the Webform page with the results you no longer want, and create a new Webform page to attach your webform fields to, keeping the respective submissions separate.

WebAudit Metrics

  • Slightly revision in how scores are being reported this month.
  • WATCH YOUR LINKS! With all sites live in the new system, some links may have changed. CMS sites have a built-in page (ReportsTop 'page not found' errors) that shows a list of URLs that users are visiting that result in Not Found being shown.

CMS updates

  • AI-generated alt text on images
    • UNL CMS now uses AI to automatically generate alt text for images uploaded through the WYSIWYG editor, or on any heros or components. You will still have the ability to further edit the caption once it is created, but the AI generated alt text should create a good baseline for working with.
